Girls Gone Styled Ep. 6: How To Pack Like A Fashionista

March 7th, 2010 | by rarzi |

Welcome back! New York Fashion Week madness continues and we are working on putting together some hot runway action to show you next week! In the meantime, we got an email from Vickie in Texas, asking for a segment on travel essentials. It just so happens that Faran was taking a break in between shows to pack for her trip to see the collections in Europe, and we got it on tape! This week, Faran explains how to pack in a way that is both sensible and stylish. Thanks for the idea, Vickie! Remember to send us YOUR fashion week stories and photos to xo@girlsgonestyled.tv. Also, be sure to check Fashionista.com and Teen Vogue everyday for Faran’s runway reports.

I’m suprised you asked that, well!!!
How wuld someone see the packed laptop?!?!?
Thats also the reason for an old bag!

If you put liquids in a ziploc bag before putting them in your boots, they won’t be as likely to get all over your boots if they leak.

Didn’t you say stuff gets stolen and that’s why you use an old bag? Then why do you put your laptop in your suitcase????
    P.S.
That definitely does not look like enough close for your trip

I absolutely love this idea of packing! Im traveling to Paris over the summer and I thought this would be the best way to do it! I did a “practice pack” to see how much I would be taking and how much my suitcase would weigh…and everything fit and i just made the weight limit (yes, I did take it to get weighed, lol). And when i went to put everything back, everything came out so easily! Thanks for the video!

Obviously that wasn’t her actualy bag people! It was a DEMO!

Though I think the folding everything in technique works better when you’re staying in one hotel or place for more than a few nights so you can unpack & use the shelves/dresser/closet for your clothes. For my upcoming trips I’m probably going to lay & then fold my dress pants & jeans (dresses if I bring them) and roll everything else inside. Shoes…not quite sure yet.

That was a brilliant way of bringing a coat (i’l borrow that idea) but for me I’l still roll my other clothes and use plastic backs to keep my shoes and cosmetics seperate, also I think having a seperate laptop case for the laptop offers more protection since you can keep this within sight..

How is that super ghetto? That’s like saying going to the bathroom after a long road trip to wash your face. So that’s super ghetto? Wow. I am so offended. Learn the real definiton of ghetto. Not make up some stupid thing like “changing a tee shirt”

Honey, please tell me you don’t really put your boots in there without being in plastic bags. No way would I ever let my shoes touch clothes. Nasty.

she just so satisfied with herself comin up with the spread out ur clothes solution…just see the way she speaks…she doesn’t even realise tt it’s nt feasible

  24. By Lia8Muziclvr on Mar 8, 2010 | Reply

OKAY Rolly the items! its so nice and helpful. and besides………..if you roll your stuff you’ll be able to fit SOME UNDERGARMENTS too if ya know what i mean! And three weeks of dresses could get real old real fast.

  25. By froggie9219 on Mar 8, 2010 | Reply

    1. never put a laptop in a suitcase
    2. thats not nearly enough clothes for three weeks. what about all the sweaters and tees she wanted to layer with? & i could not go three weeks w/o wearing a pair of pants once in a while.
    3. The makeup could possibly leak. I wouldn’t want that mess in my shoes! I put all that stuff in Ziplock bags.

  26. By serenwen on Mar 8, 2010 | Reply

seriously, what did you have in there 5 or 6 garments? that ‘magic’ solution doesn’t work, you could fit triple that in by rolling the items.
